I had the pleasure of attending SXSW and I can’t recommend it enough. It is now officially in my top three favorite conferences, if not my number one. I will definitely be going again. The density, number and diversity of influencers was higher than I’ve seen anywhere else and as a result the conversations were fascinating.
I learned a ton — including how fun Utterz can be. My biggest takeaway however was how Twitter is changing the world. For those who don’t know, Twitter is a social networking and micro-blogging service that allows users to send and read other users’ updates in real time via text messages. In two separate sessions, the audience revolted against the speakers. My hunch is that without Twitter, this would not have happened because the audience would not have known if they were alone in thinking the speakers were not delivering what was promised in the program agenda. SXSW was my first experience going to a conference where most of the attendees were on Twitter. The technology added a dimension that I’ve never seen before and one that signicantly changes the dynamics of attendees interactions.
So please join me on Twitter (betsyflanagan) and I hope to see you at SXSW next year!
